Asia Invest was launched in 1998 and aims to promote the internationalization of European and Asian Small and Medium Sized Enterprises( SMEs ). For the period 2006~2007 it will continue to support the exchange of experience, networking and matchmaking among European and Asian business organizations to promote the greater integration of European and Asian companies and the transfer of know-how and technology between the 2 regions. This is achieved by supporting multilateral partnership projects between intermediary business organizations in the European Union and South-Asia, South East Asia and East Asia. With its Asia wide approach, the programme will serve to bring European and Asian operators together to help them benefit from trade and economic liberalisation.
To assist EBOs and the EU Commission through (a) acquiring an in depth understanding of the regulatory environment and hindrances to trade and investment in the Region, and (b) assessing and measuring the performance of the Asian countries in their enforcement of such regulatory framework.
To produce a self-sustainable systematic and comparative e-document of Asian trade and investment environment together with recommendations to provide all relevant stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the regional environment in Asia in order to, (a) enable European industry to effectively plan their trade and investment strategies in the region, (b) sustain the European Union’s long-term economic and political presence in the region, (c) assist local authorities in identifying shortcomings in their legal and regulatory frameworks for trade and investments by benchmarking on neighbouring countries.
To strengthen the EBO Network in terms of regional expertise and EACA as European coordination back-office of the Asian EBOs.
